In the far reaches of a very ancient universe, where the stars whisper secrets long forgotten, there was my planet, Karesh.

It was a place of indescribable beauty, where the skies shone with a blue glow and the sands reflected the light like silver mirrors, full of life.

We, the Kareshi, were part of it, beings of collective thought and arcane knowledge, living in perfect harmony with the world but that harmony was destined to break, that was a peace that would not last much longer.

I was one of them. I lived in the crystal plains, there, I spent my hours immersing myself in the knowledge of magic and learning from what was shared by others who existed before me.
We felt the connection to the very soul of our planet. It was not just a core of energy; it was an omniscient entity that united us all in streams of thought, emotions and understanding. karesh was a sleeping soul and also, it was our greatest pain when she became silent.

The first sign of the catastrophe was a tremor in the form of singing. A cacophony that shattered the ears and tore the soul, it was hundreds of cries of pain and anguish, of sorrow for the captured souls
and the destroyed lives of those planets consumed before us.

An uneasy whisper ran through our minds. Karesh spoke to us, but her voice, always serene and comforting, now trembled. «eternal hunger is here, it has found us»

We did not know what she meant, no one expected something like that, our planet, always wise and calm, was now afraid.
Before that disheartening silence, one of us spoke with courage, I do not remember who but I remember his words: “we will fight against it, with you, if it is the end… it will be the end of all of us” and one by one we nodded.

The shadow spread over us, palpable, dense and unbreathable, entering through the nose and throat suffocating you, it was not simply darkness; it was a living entity, a being that existed beyond comprehension and that fed on our horror.

It spread rapidly like a stain across the sky, devouring the stars one by one, darkening that sky we knew by heart.
We Kareshi gathered in the energy sanctuaries, in our ecodomes, seeking refuge in arcane magic, we were wise, we were powerful and we had faith.
When that eternal night came, the battle began. We attacked by “day” for we could still feel a change of color in the shadows and we hid in our domes at night.

We had always acted as one, a hive mind, the good of one was the good of all, there was no hint of greed or lust for power in us, so no one imagined that treachery could live in one of us.
We were overcome by an atrocious roar, followed by a cry of pain from our world, a tremor ran through the ground and one by one, our energy domes were crumbling, someone had deactivated them and I do not know how, I knew it had been her.

The magic released from the domes and the void began to run amok creating vortexes of energy from the ground to the sky that began to disintegrate everything and us too, the end of our physical form came, at the same time that we became pure energy, our mind expanded and our knowledge too, when that was over, we understood that we could fight Dimensius at the same level, a last wink of luck?

Karesh, on her side, was also fighting against a power that tried to control her, there was no rest for anyone. We were destroying the enemy’s advance as best we could in an all-out fight.

I do not remember how much time passed, but I know that we resisted something more than Dimensius himself had calculated, we could feel his anger and despair but nobody won and that was the problem because his power grew daily.
The day of the final battle came, The Hungry One, summoned countless portals, from which emerged creatures that should not exist. Twisted beings, forms that defied imagination… they advanced destroying everything in their path and killing us, if we killed one, a hundred would appear, there was no victory possible.
Our minds were filled with the thoughts of all, the pain of those who fell and the images of death… our worldly souls were broken with pain and almost lost control.

So, it was the last time she spoke to us: “you must flee, use the portals to the twisthing nether, I have no time left” and the fastest of us, used those portals to escape, to a totally unknown future.

I was desperately heading towards one of those portals and then I saw him, I saw Dimensius, he was a colossal figure, a silhouette of shadow and horror. His eyes glowed with an evil radiance, and his laughter echoed in our minds like a high-pitched shriek, a sound that drove us to the brink of madness. With an outstretched hand, he absorbed what was left of Karesh, and the planet broke apart.

I was one of the last to fall. I felt how the Void closed around me, how my essence was devoured, how my existence faded into nothingness. But before it was all over, I saw something else. A flash of light in the darkness. A portal, a crack in the fabric of reality. And through it, I glimpsed another world. A world of strange creatures, of heroes and magic. A planet full of life as mine was before and a distant voice whispered to me… Azeroth,

I understood that this world was also in danger. That Dimensius would not stop with Karesh. That the Void would continue to expand, devouring everything in its path and before losing my consciousness I released this last warning.
Now, I am only an echo, a memory of what I once was. But my story must be told. The Void and the void lords are a threat to all worlds and all universes.

And if anyone, anywhere, finds me and hears this message, I will have done my part and perhaps you, you can fight back and perhaps you can avenge us.
